Origins of Viña Terramater

In 1996, three sisters—Gilda, Edda, and Antonieta Canepa—decided to pursue their lifelong passion for winemaking. Their family has been involved in viticulture since the 1930s, and they transformed their established vineyards into a modern winery, marking the birth of Viña Terramater.

The Meaning Behind TerraMater

The name TerraMater, meaning "Mother Land" in Latin, reflects the winery's deep connection to its exceptional terroir. The vineyards are nurtured with traditional Chilean winemaking techniques, combined with innovative practices. This approach allows them to create wines that honor the rich bounty of the land.

Commitment to Sustainability

Viña Terramater is dedicated to sustainability and combating climate change. They implement eco-friendly practices, such as reducing glass usage and utilizing organic biomass. The estate also features lush olive groves, known for producing some of the finest Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Chile, and vibrant apple orchards that bear fruit in the summer, adding to the estate's natural beauty.

A very varied sales room, with wines, olive oil, various pastas and sauces. The service is very friendly and attentive. Always willing to help. They also have a wonderful restaurant, from the menus to the service. Highly recommended. Ideal to attend with children, since they have green areas that entertain them.

We have only just arrived in the sales room 😁, you have to plan time for the tours, there is a restaurant next door, a good selection of wines, the alfajores are very tasty.

A small vineyard, the tour is good, and the wines are generally good, especially the Altum. There's a restaurant (Zinfandel) that's the best in the area, offering very good food and generous portions. Perhaps they need to expand their table space into a covered area, as this one is very small and it's unpleasant to be outside in the summer due to the many flies, but overall, the service is very good.
