Di Giovanna is certified organic since 1997
The Di Giovanna wine estate in Sicily is among the oldest winemaker family of Sicily that focuses on making certified organic wines using various local grapes along with many international grape varietals. The entire winery and its property are certified organic by Suolo e Salute SRL since 1997. Owned by brothers, Gunther and Klaus, it is present in the hills of Monte Genuardo, a protected nature reserve. The 5th-generation estate covers almost 100 hectares, out of which 65 are vineyards.
Organic farming in the vineyards and cellar
The five vineyards of the winery are located in small DOC’s of Sambuca di Sicilia and Contessa Entellina. Paradiso, Miccina, and Gerbino are in the clay calcareous soil of Contessa Entellina. Fiuminello and San Giacomo vineyards surround the cellar in Sambuca di Sicilia. All the work from pruning to the harvest of grapes is done manually using organic techniques. It protects the environment and preserves the health of their vineyards.
The winery makes Sicilia DOC and IGT wine
The grapes grown in their vineyards are Nero d’Avola, Zibibbo, Chardonnay, Grillo, Nerello Mascalese, and Grillo. The best grapes are handpicked and used to make red, white, and rose wines. The winery is on a constant path to improve the quality of their wines with each vintage. Apart from wines, they also make extra virgin olive oil. Both oil and wine truly reflect the unique territory and high-level winemaking. They offer a great experience for tourists and make you feel like a part of their Sicilian family.
