Organic Farming at Domaine de la Croix Blanche

Domaine de la Croix Blanche is located at the heart of the Rhône Valley in the southern gate of the Gorges de l’Ardèche. Boasting a long family tradition, the estate covers 29 hectares of vineyards grown in organically. In 1989, Daniel Archambault took over Domaine De La Croix Blanche after the retirement of his parents. Using his technical winemaking knowledge, Daniel modernized the winery together with his wife, Rose Marie, and is dedicated to the work in the vineyards to create high quality wines.

Renovation of the Winery from Vine to Cellar

Over time, Daniel has replaced old vats from 1870 with more modern ones, and in 2005, added thermoregulation to the vats to refine the work on the wines. In 2008, they installed stainless steel tanks for the vinification of rosés and whites. At Domaine de la Couvette a few plots of the vineyards were replanted. Each wine at the estate is a perfect combination of decisions from vine to bottle.

Broad Range of Grape Varieties at Domaine de la Couvette

Domaine de la Couvette uses traditional grape varieties including Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Merlot, Cinsault, and Grenache Blanc. They also plant Clairette, Roussanne, Viognier, Marsanne. This allows the winery the ability to produce an extensive range of wines in AOP Côtes du Rhône, Côtes Rhône Village, and IGP Ardèche. In 2011, Domaine de la Couvette shifted from sustainable agriculture to organic farming. The same year, their son Guillaume, joined the vineyard team to perpetuate their winemaking tradition. In 2013, the entire estate converted to organic production. Domaine de la Croix Blanche is open for wine tours and tastings. You can visit the winery and indulge yourself in different activities and winetasting sessions.
