The Symbolism of Domaine de la Mordoree

In 1986, Francis Delorme together with his son Christophe Delorme, established Domaine of the Mordoree. Mordoree is actually a color and also another name of the famous symbol of the domain, the woodcock bird. The Domaine has also other nicknames such as “La Dame Voyageuse” La Dame Rousse” La Remise” and “La Reine des Bois” which also represent the names of cuvées. The winery 58.5 hectares of vineyard area which located in Tavel in the southwest of the Rhône Valley. After the demise of Christophe Delorme in 2015, his wife Madeleine Delorme and his daughter Ambre Delorme have been looking after the estate.

Domaine de la Mordoree is situated in an ideal location, at the crossroads of two beautiful regions Languedoc and Provence. The winery Domaine de la Mordoree produces some of the best wines in the Rhône Valley based on the appellation of Châteauneuf du Pape, Lirac, Côtes du Rhône, wines of France and Condrieu. The wine estate is entirely organic and has a biodynamic approach to the land and the cellar production. Harvest is carried out manually. Domaine de la Mordoree vineyards are a complete sustainable ecosystem. The natural balance of the soils help to defend against microbial attacks of bacteria, fungi, insects, and climatic excesses to create fantastic Tavel wines.
