Exceptional Wines from the Rhône Valley
Michel Audibert, a fifth-generation winemaker, carries on a century-old family tradition of crafting red wines with character in Provence. In 2014, he took a significant step by acquiring the Jas des Papes estate in Courthézon, a move that honors his family's legacy while shaping a promising future.
Diverse Vineyards and Unique Terroir
Located in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the Jas des Papes estate spans approximately ten hectares, primarily in the Les Saumades area. The vineyard features a variety of soil types, including sand and rolled pebbles, which contribute to the distinct identity of the terroir. With a focus on old vines of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, and Clairette, the estate cultivates 95% red grape varieties and 5% white, aligning with the regional average. Since 2017, the vineyard has been certified organic, reflecting a commitment to sustainable farming practices.
Wines with Character and Elegance
The estate produces two main wines: the "Jas Rouge" and "Jas Blanc." The Jas Rouge, crafted from Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah, is known for its supple texture and elegant profile, showcasing fresh fruit flavors with finesse. Each varietal is harvested and vinified separately in tapered wooden vats, followed by 12 months of aging in barrels. The Jas Blanc, characterized by its mineral notes and vibrant acidity, undergoes fermentation and aging in barrels and demi-muids for 10 months, resulting in a well-rounded white wine.
