Experience Organic Wines in the Heart of Rhône's Rich Biodiversity
A Rich History at Château Maucoil
Château Maucoil boasts a captivating history that dates back centuries, influenced by various settlers. The site first attracted Roman legions due to its natural spring and proximity to the Via Agrippa. In 1624, it became the residence of the Lord of Maucoil, who served as the archivist for the Orange Nassau family, the royal family of the Netherlands. Since then, generations of vintner families have nurtured the estate's legacy. The vineyard's cultivation practices trace back to the 17th century, with some vines planted in 1895 still thriving today.
Commitment to Biodynamic Practices
In 2022, Domaine Duseigneur, known for its biodynamic expertise, took over Château Maucoil with a mission to enhance its natural beauty while respecting the environment. Visitors are welcome to experience the estate through tastings and workshops, set against the stunning backdrop of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The unique terroir contributes to the exceptional quality of the wines produced here. The winery is open Monday to Saturday, including public holidays, and on Sundays by reservation, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
