Discover a Family Estate in the Heart of the Rhone Valley
A Family Estate in the Heart of Rhône
Domaine de la Présidente is a family estate located in the hart of the southern Rhône Valley, in the village of Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes near Avignon, the capital city of Côtes du Rhône. The vineyards of the estate are located in the appellation areas of Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages, Cairanne and Châteauneuf-du-Pape . The 137 hectares of vineyards are planted in limestone clay soils typical of the region and they benefit from the Mediterranean climate including the sun and the wind called the Mistral, which blows from north to south through the Rhone corridor, helping to protect the vineyard.
History of over 4 Centuries at Domaine de la Présidente
The Domaine has a very long history. In 1614, the Domaine became the property of Monsieur Alexandre de Galliffet who, as a result of his marriage to Lucrèce de Truchaud, received the role of President of the Provence Parliament. He turned the lands into vineyards and named the Domaine to honor his wife. After a series of owners and developers of the estate, the Aubert family acquired the Domaine in 1968. Max Aubert was one of the founders of the Wine University in Suze-la-Rousse. His son René, who succeeded him in 2001 focused on the quality of the wines and environmentally friendly farming. The business management is now handled by Céline Aubert, wife of René Aubert, who died in 2008, assisted by Simon Gauthier, the winemaker.
At the domaine, we are committed to giving our best at every stage, from the vine to the bottle. This means working the soil, making plot selections, harvesting at just the right ripeness and respecting the terroir in the winemaking process.
Particular attention is paid to the freshness and complexity of the white and rosé wines, and to the concentration and fruitiness of the reds.
The wines of Domaine de la Présidente are regular winners at wine competitions and they are being awarded over 90 points in major publications such as The Wine Advocate.
