Domaine l’Ancienne École is a remarkable winery situated in the picturesque northeast of Provence, in the Rhône region. The unique terroir here combines a cool climate with warm geography, creating ideal conditions for grape cultivation. Our vineyards, located at an altitude of 400 meters, benefit from cool nights influenced by the nearby Pre-Alps. This temperature variation allows the grapes to ripen slowly, resulting in a perfect balance that defines the wines of Vinsobres. The cool nights also enhance the deep color of our red wines, making them visually striking and flavorful.
At Domaine l’Ancienne École, we cultivate 13 hectares of vineyards primarily featuring Grenache Noir and Syrah grape varieties. In addition to our vines, we maintain three hectares of natural woodlands that support a diverse range of wildlife. The soil composition, a blend of marl and limestone with pebbles, contributes to the unique character of our wines. In the Vinsobres plots, red sand is also present, adding to the complexity of the terroir.
We are committed to organic farming practices at Domaine l’Ancienne École, nurturing our exceptional terroir while promoting biodiversity. By allowing natural grasses to flourish, we create habitats for beneficial insects and wildlife, which help maintain a balanced ecosystem. This approach has enabled us to minimize the use of phytopharmaceutical inputs, ensuring that our wines are produced sustainably and with respect for the environment.

My girlfriend and I booked a sunset gourmand pizza evening with them. This consisted of a tour, tasting and of course dinner at sunset. The tour and tasting was fun and informative. We first tasted four wines and we received one of them again with dinner. The wines were interesting and tasty. It was very nice to taste the difference between a younger and older wine. The snacks, home-baked pizzas and dessert were very tasty. We really enjoyed this evening!

Excellent experience, this long weekend at the end of May at Domaine L'Ancienne Ecole. We stayed in the large gîte, and there is definitely enough room for a group of six people. The kitchen is functional, the bedrooms and bathrooms pleasant, the living room spacious. Everything was very clean. As for the outdoor spaces, it is simply splendid: beautiful terrace for dinner, the old table under the tree for breakfast and a wonderful swimming pool. Thank you also for taking the time to present and explain your work and the wines. It was really interesting. What could easily be improved: the provision of certain basic products (salt, pepper, sugar, toilet paper, etc., that kind of thing, which we don't necessarily think about when we go away for a weekend) in sufficient quantity, because the nearest store is a few kilometers away in Valréas. To make a long story short: We were delighted with our weekend.
