Domäne Vincendeau – An Organic Winery from Day One

Situated near the banks of Loire and overlooking a mesmerizing isle of Behuard, Domäne Vincendeau has found a charming spot to base itself with vineyards beautifully scattered over the Anjou region. Liv Vincendeau, the owner, and her husband deliver top-class organic wines from the estate-owned grapes cultivated on more than seven hectares of vineyards.

Life of a Young German Woman Excelled in French Winemaking Techniques

In 2013, Liv Vincendeau got settled in Rochefort-sur-Loire with her husband, and after a year, she established Domäne Vincendeau. Being a newcomer, she has more knowledge about grapes, wines, and terroirs than any second or third generation of winemakers. Originally from Wiesbaden, Germany, she moved to Loire Valley in the early 2000s to study winemaking. Today, the winery is built on an old house that the couple bought in 2013. Since the winery’s commencement, Liv produces organic white, sparkling, and dessert wines.

Organic Vineyards Near Angers, Rochefort-sur-Loire

A majority of vineyard plots are grown with flagship Chenin Blanc, ranging from 10 to 80 years old. Some hectares are dedicated to Cabernet Franc, Gamay, and newly cultivated Grolleau. The parcels are littered with green and purple schist quartz. After manually picking the grapes, Liv uses a Vaslin press for soft pressing in the cellar, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. For aging and refining, different sizes of wooden oak barrels are beautifully lined up in the cellar.
