Ninth-generation winemaker Dominique Portet established his winery in 2000 in Coldstream, Yarra Valley, a region known for its cool climate. Since 1976, he has played a key role in revitalizing Australia’s cool-climate wine scene, founding notable sparkling wine producers like Taltarni in the Pyrenees and Clover Hill in Tasmania.

This winery represents a long search for grape-growing terroir that rivals his native Bordeaux, marking a new chapter in a winemaking legacy that dates back to the early 1700s in France. Today, his son Ben, the tenth generation, leads the winemaking team, upholding the estate's core values: honoring tradition, understanding the land, and embracing modern techniques to create refined and flavorful wines.

Stunning location with picturesque views and very easy access from the main road. We met with a large group which was well catered for. Wines were delicious. We were treated by the history of the winery which originated in France. Absolute must to visit. Gluten free options were aplenty along with very friendly wait staff.

We had such a lovely introduction to the wines in this estate. Barris (i hope i spelled that right) was extremely knowledgeable in the winemaking process and we learned so much. The wines (museum) were deeply flavourful, and we would definitely recommend that even though it is just 2 tastings opposed to the 5. It is definitely worth the trip and a taste.

Highly recommend this hidden gem in the Yarra Valley! Beautiful setting, excellent wines, and friendly, knowledgeable staff. The food was also delicious! Can’t wait to visit again!

Very nice estate to discover during your visit to the Yarra Valley. Good quality wines. I love the rosé tasted on the terrace with a little cheese or charcuterie. And what about a little game of pétanque to brighten it all up... I recommend!

Lovely location to meet up with friends and family. The food is really good. We had the share plate. Some dishes can be substituted for the GF and Vegans in the group. The wines are quite nice. I’m not a big wine drinker but I really enjoyed the Pinot Noir. Nice place to go during a cold winters day.
