Three Distinct Wine Labels from Five Vineyards

The award-winning winemaking team at Montalto crafts wines under three distinct labels, drawing from five vineyards in the cool coastal region. With 12 vintages of experience, winemaker Simon Black skillfully captures the unique characteristics of each vineyard site. The single-vineyard wines showcase the distinct qualities of their origins, while the Montalto wines highlight the best produce from the Peninsula. The Pennon Hill label focuses on drinkability, reflecting the aromatic and rich qualities that the Mornington Peninsula is renowned for.

The Piazza at Montalto

The Piazza at Montalto offers a relaxed alfresco dining experience, perfect for sharing food and wine with friends and family. Set amidst Wendy’s Garden, guests can often see chefs selecting fresh produce, herbs, and flowers for the day’s menu. Montalto's kitchen garden is the oldest in Victoria and has grown to be one of the largest in Australia, ensuring that every dish is made with the freshest ingredients.

Thoroughly enjoyed lunch here at the restaurant and their rosé is dangerously delicious. Glad to have found another great winery dining spot in the area! They also have a more casual part to the restaurant that has pizzas as a less fancy option.

Went here for the food and the ambience and it did not disappoint. Best food all weekend on our Mornington trip. Everything was a 10/10, pizzas were the best for mains and then all the entree starting dishes were all a must . Besides the food, the overall premise was nice to walk about. Service team there was awesome. We did the casual dining option where you could sit outside and choose your order > set menu.

Stunning winery, beautifully laid out to accommodate lots of people’, could do with a few more umbrellas for shade. The picnic menu was ok, definitely on the pricey side for quantity provided. We had lunch the food was generally speaking nice I probably wouldn’t order the corn risotto again but overall it’s just a beautiful place to visit and enjoy the views while enjoying lunch

Came down here on a Monday afternoon day before Christmas Eve. We didn’t have to wait for a seat though it was outside on a rainy Melbourne summer day. The menu was mainly pizzas and finger foods, mainly Italian inspired with Australian produce. We got 3 pizzas and the dough was thin like a biscuit and the toppings were amazing. The cheese melted was top notch and each pizza dough was hand stretched and pizza oven baked. We then went for a walk in the wide space in the vineyard and were greeted with sculptures and fine weather. All in all Montalto is a great stop in Red Hill region.

Montalto has always been one of my favourite wineries in Melbourne. We enjoyed their pizzas from Piazza, their wines and olive oil. We have booked the private picnics before, and the set menu experience in the restaurant a bunch of times. The picnic food was mostly cold 🥹 feel like not worth the $$, I really liked the concept tho, and the environment was amazing, suitable for a nice date or girls' day out. The food tho, was a bit mid this time. The mussels were fishy. The beef roast was overcooked a bit too. The starter bread and butter was my favourite. We would definitely come back, will update my rating in the future if my opinion changes. Loved taking photos in the winery, and loved how family friendly it was.

I was glad that this was the first winery I visited in my life ✨ I did a kind of walking tour with my colleagues and was able to visit it with beautiful weather, perfect view and perfect weather. I imagined that the winery would be something like a tour of the vineyards, but it wasn't like that (maybe there was such a tour) and we had a tasting followed by lunch. It was kind of a form. I had lunch there in the restaurant and it was very tasty, and the pizza was also freshly made and very tasty✨ I'm glad I was able to buy some wine as a souvenir. If you are looking for a winery with a nice view, then check this out! Also, in a courtyard-like area you can see a lot of bronze statues 🫶🏻
