Explore exemplary quality and character in a glass of wine

Montalto, Proudly a Halliday Red Five Star Winery

Montalto is a family-owned and run estate established in 1998 producing cool-climate wines on the Mornington peninsula. The estate lies in a beautiful region with rolling hills, orchards, olive groves, historic mansions, and over 200 hectares of vineyards specializing in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Shiraz, Tempranillo, and Sauvignon Blanc. The estate includes a collection of 30 plus sculptures spread across grassy lawns and gravel pathways, through vines and wetland boardwalks. The sculpture is an integral part of life at Montalto and organizes Montalto Sculpture Prize which is an award and is a much-loved part of the Montalto calendar, designed to encourage artistic pursuit in a public forum.

Three Wine Labels from Five Different Vineyards

The award-winning winemaking team develops wine for three labels from vineyards across the cool climate and coastal region. The focus is to provide exemplary quality and character in wines using a winemaking technique that complements each vineyard site. With 12 vintages under the belt as Montalto winemaker, Simon Black knows exactly how to vinify and capture the potential of each site. The single-vineyard wines capture the hallmark qualities and personalities from the vineyard site. The Montalto wines are crafted from only the best produce from vineyards across the Peninsula. The Pennon Hill wines are all about drinkability that reflects qualities that the Mornington Peninsula is best known for – aromatic, expressional, and richness.

The Piazza at Montalto

The estate houses the Piazza which is all about sharing food, wine, and good times with loved ones. The Piazza is an alfresco dining experience where you can sit amongst Wendy’s Garden and likely see chefs picking produce, herbs, and flowers for the day’s menu. The kitchen garden here in Montalto is the oldest in Victoria and has grown to become one of the largest operations in Australia.
