Brown Brothers Winery

With over 130 years of winemaking experience, the Brown family has been crafting some of Australia’s most innovative wines at their King Valley Winery in the picturesque Victorian high country. The Milawa Vineyard, the birthplace of Brown Brothers, serves as the primary source for celebrated wines like Patricia Noble Riesling, Shiraz Mondeuse, Cabernet, and Prosecco. This vineyard also houses the grape retrieval and winemaking facilities, where thousands of tonnes of grapes are processed each vintage.

A Legacy of Innovation Since 1889

Founded in 1889 by John Francis Brown at just 18 years old, Brown Brothers has a rich history of winemaking. Under the leadership of his son, John Charles Brown, the winery gained recognition for its willingness to experiment with unique grape varieties. This spirit of innovation is evident throughout the Milawa site, which features a highly acclaimed fine dining restaurant, a relaxed Grazing Menu and Bar, and a Cellar Door and Tasting Room showcasing one of the largest selections of varietals available for tasting. Celebrating Family and Italian Varietals in King Valley

Brown Brothers also hosts weddings and private events in their historic barn and features a vibrant calendar of family-friendly activities. As part of Australia’s First Families of Wine, the third and fourth generations of the Brown family continue to uphold their reputation as specialists in varietal wines and winemaking innovation. Located at the foothills of the Alpine National Park, the King Valley wine region is approximately three hours northeast of Melbourne and is renowned for its Italian wine varietals, including Prosecco, Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio, Dolcetto, Arneis, and Barbera, alongside premium traditional cool-climate wines.
