Finest Winery in the Region

Founded in 2006 by Sam Coverdale, Polperro Winery is located in the picturesque Mornington Peninsula, just an hour from Melbourne. This winery combines organic and biodynamic practices to create elegant wines that reflect the unique characteristics of Australia’s wine region. With stunning beaches, lush pastures, and rolling hills, Polperro is dedicated to producing high-quality wines under the Polperro and Even Keel labels.

Since 2009, Polperro has focused on premium, single-vineyard wines from the Mornington Peninsula, showcasing the region's exceptional terroir.

Terroir of Mornington Peninsula

The Mornington Peninsula is known for its diverse soil types, including rich red volcanic soil and sandy varieties. The proximity to Port Phillip and Westernport Bay helps maintain a moderate climate, preventing extreme temperature fluctuations. This ideal environment is particularly suited for growing exceptional Pinot Noir, making it a standout in the region.

Careful Vineyard Management

Sam Coverdale personally oversees all aspects of vineyard management, from pruning to canopy care, ensuring the integrity of each vineyard is maintained throughout the seasons. Grapes are processed locally, with careful separation of skins and juice to preserve quality. After a gentle transfer to Even Keel’s facilities, a blend of traditional and modern winemaking techniques is employed, all performed by hand to maintain the highest standards.

An excellent wine cellar that includes a magnificent restaurant. Don't miss their wood-braised shrimp with lemon dressing.

We visited Polperro Winery today as three longtime friends, and from the start, parking was easy. The walk down to the restaurant was charming, though I’d advise watching your step—those stones could be slippery, especially after a few drinks! We chose to sit outside under the canopy on the deck, overlooking the winery. The view was so inviting that I was tempted to settle into the white chairs in front of us on the lawn and simply take it all in. The lawn area was beautifully maintained, and the striking gum trees with their sunset colours of peeling bark adds to the natural charm of the winery. You can really see the care that has gone into creating and maintaining such a lovely space. Though the menu wasn’t extensive, it was well-curated, and the food itself was beautifully prepared. Each dish was plated with the precision and elegance of fine dining, with thoughtful presentation that I hope my photos captured. The only aspect that felt a bit out of place was being given paper plates and wooden cutlery. While I appreciate sustainability efforts, it seemed odd considering the price we paid for our meal. It felt like a mismatch with the rest of the experience, especially given how refined everything else was—from the food presentation to the decor. Overall, we had a wonderful time, and the setting, food, and attention to detail made for a memorable experience. We will be back 🫶🏻🐚

Very nice place to wine and dine. Went for the set menu as it was the only option and I could describe the dining as more of an experience than a flavour masterclass. Every dish is explained by the waiter on how it was fostered and preserved for dining. The food is very fresh where you can tell it was just picked that morning. Food is not that heavily seasoned so the earthy flavours stand out more. Price to food taste was a bit 2 much for me at-least. Was at-least 150++ without the wine costs. View is outstanding and to sit outside and enjoy the view is surreal.

Polperro Restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience. We were a big group of 11 celebrating a good friend's 40th birthday. The food is expertly crafted, with each set dish highlighting exquisite flavors and presentation. The view of the vineyard adds a special touch to the meal, making it a beautiful scenic experience. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, ensuring every detail is perfect. Special mention to Robyn who was an outstanding, charismatic, personable and attentive waitress who went well beyond to make our experience amazing. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

We had our wedding at Polperro, and stayed at the Farmhouse for two nights. We are so happy with our experience; it was absolutely fantastic and we are so glad we chose Polperro. The venue was the perfect setting for us. We had our ceremony out on the lawn and the surrounds are stunning – the gorgeous gum trees, the view over the vines to bushland, and the surrounding garden. The restaurant and deck provided a lovely environment for the rest of the evening. The food was phenomenal, and thoroughly enjoyed by all. There was more than enough to go around and our guests are still talking about the food. They easily accommodated a range of dietary requirements without issue. We were able to tailor our wine menu to include our favourite Polperro wines, and the team also created a bespoke cocktail for us, which was delicious. The service was excellent, and they also paid special attention to us as the wedding party. Kim, the event coordinator, was lovely and a pleasure to work with. She worked really well with our wedding planner and the day ran without any issues that we knew about. We felt that our plans were the focus throughout the planning and lead-up and they facilitated multiple vendors on the day. Kim was friendly and professional and flexible with accommodating what we were wanting. The whole team have been so welcoming and a number of the staff remembered us each time we visited and would congratulate us. The Farmhouse accommodation was comfortable and a perfect spot to get ready for the wedding. Lauren had everything set up for us and met us there for check-in, everything was clean, and it’s in a lovely quiet spot with a beautiful view over the vines. All in all we had an amazing time and are so thankful to Polperro and the team.
