This unique region is one of the few where pre-phylloxera vineyards survived the 19th-century crisis, making the estate a true gem. The volcanic soil, abundant in minerals, nurtures vibrant grapes that are the foundation of their outstanding wines. Emanuele Scammacca transformed the estate into a flourishing agricultural hub, later joined by his family.
The volcanic terroir adds complexity and elegance to the wines, distinguishing them from those of other Italian regions. The estate practices organic viticulture, minimizing environmental impact while preserving its ancient vines. With 24.5 hectares of vineyards, the focus is on crafting wines that reflect passion and dedication.
The estate cultivates native DOC Etna varietals such as Catarratto, Caricante, and Nerello Mascalese, along with select French varieties. Handpicked grapes produce vibrant reds, crisp whites, delicate rosés, and sparkling wines. Notably, the sparkling Nerello Mascalese is celebrated for its refined elegance. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of Mount Etna while tasting wines that capture the essence of this remarkable region.

Write a reviewAt the end of the first level of sommelier we went for a guided tour of the Murgo winery. Many years of history and passion for their vineyard make it in my opinion the most fascinating winery in the area. Afterwards we had a tasting that I honestly hadn't seen in any other winery. The staff served us as if this place belonged to them, with a welcome and passion for their work that you only find in a few places today. A rainy and cold day, they were able to make it warm and cheerful. I felt at home, as if I had friends by my side and not people who were there to do a task, highly recommended, excellent value for money. Thank you for the wonderful experience 🍷💓

Dinner in mid-August 2024 with the panorama of the eruption in the background. Very good dinner and service as one would wish, simple but attentive to the customer's needs. Fantastic location. I come back every year for dinner or lunch and to buy and taste the wines produced by the company. Interesting facts about the life of Baron Scamacca del Murgo, former ambassador and statesman. Every time I praise the staff for their dedication to the activity that such a large and important property requires. An example of being proud to be Italian. Well done!

Very beautiful location. The restaurant has windows with views and several outdoor seats. Excellent starters and pastas. The meat is good (according to the fixed price per person of 35 euros). A glass of wine is included in the decidedly battle-worthy menu, but if you wish, you can order a more expensive bottle for a fee. Just steps from the highway and with parking.

Short but informative tour followed by a tasting of 5 wines with accompanying nibbles in a lovely setting. Helpful and courteous staff, ample parking, Olive oil and wine available in the shop. What's not to like !!
