Roberto Luka founded the winery in 1997, naming it Finca Sophenia after his partner’s daughter, Sophia, and his own daughter Eugenia. For location, he chose Gualtallary, a district that is located in the department of Tupungato in the Uco Valley, Mendoza –– itself one of the most fertile and prestigious places in Argentina for the production of wines.

Irrigation with Water from Andes
Extending over 130 hectares, the team of Sophenia winery continues to develop without compromising the environment, favoring the development of the community in which they plant the vines. The irrigation water comes from the melting of the Andes. These wines are long-lived, complex and have a high fruit concentration and truly stand out for their exemplary structure and singular tannic texture.
