A Family-Owned Winery in the Heart of Sicily

The Giasira Winery

Giasira Winery is nestled in a stunning corner of Sicily, framed by traditional dry stone walls. Located between the UNESCO World Heritage towns of Noto and Modica, the estate offers a refreshing experience for those who appreciate the vibrant colors and aromas of nature. A visit to Giasira allows wine enthusiasts to learn about the unique terroir, enjoy the beauty of the landscape throughout the seasons, and taste wines crafted right where they are grown.

The Family Behind Giasira

In 2004, Giovanni Boroli, a businessman captivated by Sicily, and his wife Isabella, a Venetian, acquired the estate and began restoring the ancient rural farm. Giovanni recognized the potential of the calcareous soils and favorable climate for producing high-quality grapes. Starting in 2005, with expert guidance, they planted traditional native varieties such as Nero d’Avola and Moscato Bianco, along with other Sicilian grapes like Grillo, Catarratto, and Nerello Mascalese, as well as a few international varieties like Merlot and Chardonnay.

The Vineyards at the Winery

The estate spans 130 hectares, featuring thousands of trees, including around 3,000 local olive trees, centuries-old carob trees, over 2,000 almond trees, and numerous citrus trees. The vineyard covers approximately 13 hectares at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. The Mediterranean climate, calcareous soils, and careful vineyard management contribute to a healthy grape harvest. Giasira follows sustainable agricultural practices, emphasizing environmental respect. Since 2005, all agricultural production has been certified organic by ICEA (Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification), and since 2015, Giasira wines have proudly carried the “Organic Wines” label.

A wonderful experience! Our hostess Teresa was very friendly and knowledgeable, and answered all our questions. Grounds are very well taken care of and the wine making process was explained in detail. Wine tasting was a lovely gathering of great wines and heavenly local food. We also had our dog with us who accompanied us all through the tour and the tasting. With their permission of course!

Was here with family which includes a dog for a wine tasting and winenyard tour. The fields are kept in immaculate condition, one could see the dedication all employees have as we ended up speaking to a few. Our guide Teresa seems to be very knowledgeable and such a nice person. The wine was lovely and so was the food ( have to give kudos to their home cook who also made this experience a memorableone for all the family). It was very beautiful and would highly recommend their wines and their tours to anyone, eapecially anyone who bringa their four legged family member along!

By chance we came across this winery on the road that leads to Modica, the vineyards, the fruit trees and everything outside were simply a dream place. Beautiful and well-kept. We were greeted by the owner and a very nice lady who allowed us to do a tasting. The wines I tasted were excellent (unfortunately we didn't have much space in our suitcase). Advise

Dropped in off season and the manager accommodated us with a great wine tasting and short tour of the winery and grounds. He gave us some great pieces of history on the property. Wine was excellent and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!
