Gilbert Wines is a family-owned boutique winery, located in the Great Southern region of Australia. The estate grows its flagship Riesling and Shiraz grapes in the finest wine-growing regions of Mount Barker, enjoying perfect topography and fertile terroirs. Surrounded by splendid vineyards, the rustic cellar of Gilbert Wines boasts a rich history and heritage that can be felt through its wines.
Established by now turned winemakers of the third generation of the Gilbert family, the estate came into being in 1985. Today, the members of both third and fourth generation run the operations in the cellar with immense dedication. Jim & Bev Gilbert, the current owners constructed the cellar in 1990, which later underwent renovation in 2003. Today, the modernsized cellar exhibits a well-furnished tasting room and an all-purpose cafe. Over the years, the wine production processes get more refined, maintaining the highest quality of production line. Today, the estate delivers top-notch red, white, and rose wines.
In Mt Barker, the vineyards are expanded over an area of 24 acres, where Jim and Bev Gilbert, along with their sons – Clinton and Matthew, grow a variety of vines. Their grapes category includes high-quality Riesling, Chardonnay, and Shiraz, along with some plants of Cabernet Sauvignon. These grapes are selectively picked using manual methods and moved to the cellar door for soft pressing and fermentation under cold temperatures.
The cafe of the estate, surrounded by lush countryside, offers a culinary walk in its garden. There, you can find their fig, plums, and peaches and taste them alongside delicious estate wines in a most relaxing environment.
