In the Heart of Umbria

Immersed in the charming Niccone Valley and dotted by spellbinding vineyards, the Girasoli Winery is situated in the south of Umbria in Italy. Girasoli is a family-run winery that produces quality wines. The history of the Girasoli Winery dates back to 1994 when the Gritti Family decided to shift to south Umbria. Ursula Schindler Gritti purchased the land in Valle del Niccone and bought I Girasoli di Sant’Andrea, previously known as St. Andrew’s Sunflowers. With the main focus on wine production, Girasoli is also involved in the cultivation of tobacco, sown crops and the production of extra virgin olive oil, under DOP Colli del Trasimeno status.

Handled with Minimal Intervention

Surrounded by 40 hectares of vineyards, the Girasoli Winery cultivates a wide array of grapes on the cultivating land. Ursula Schindler Gritti, the owner of the winery, grows Friulano, Trebbiano, Grechetto, and Pinot Nero, in combination with high-quality Sangiovese, Malvasia, and Petit Verdot, Merlot grapes being the queen of reds. The owner practices non-invasive vine cultivation process, keeping in mind the importance of nature and its surrounding environment.

Modern and Traditional Philosophies as a Key to Success

The cellar of the winery is built with the combination of both modern and traditional philosophies. It consists of stainless steel tanks for grape fermentation and large wooden barrels to store their vintages for proper aging and fining. Besides, the winery also owns a gourmet restaurant, where guests can visit for lunch and wine tasting. It comprises of stylish wooden tables and chairs and a perfect wine-food pairing menu.
