Experience the rich history and gourmet dining at this Umbria winery.
In the Heart of Umbria
Located in the picturesque Niccone Valley, Girasoli Winery is nestled in southern Umbria, Italy, surrounded by stunning vineyards. This family-run winery, established in 1994 by the Gritti Family, began when Ursula Schindler Gritti acquired the land known as I Girasoli di Sant’Andrea, previously referred to as St. Andrew’s Sunflowers. In addition to wine production, Girasoli also cultivates tobacco, various crops, and produces extra virgin olive oil, recognized under DOP Colli del Trasimeno status.
Handled with Minimal Intervention
Spanning 40 hectares, Girasoli Winery grows a diverse selection of grapes. Owner Ursula Schindler Gritti cultivates Friulano, Trebbiano, Grechetto, and Pinot Nero, alongside premium Sangiovese, Malvasia, Petit Verdot, and Merlot, the standout red variety. The winery employs a non-invasive approach to vine cultivation, emphasizing respect for nature and the surrounding ecosystem.
A Blend of Modern and Traditional Techniques
The winery's cellar harmoniously combines modern and traditional winemaking techniques. It features stainless steel tanks for fermentation and large wooden barrels for aging and fining the wines. Additionally, Girasoli boasts a gourmet restaurant where visitors can enjoy lunch and wine tastings, featuring stylish wooden furnishings and a thoughtfully curated wine-food pairing menu.
