Our Story

Cantina Fratelli Pardi story begins in 1919 when the three brothers, Alfredo, Francesco and Alberto establish it. The winery was, back then, located on the ground floor of the San Marco Hospital, that belonged to the stately building of Saint Francis in Montefalco. The grapes, used in the wine production, partly belonged to the family and some were bought from other local landowners. White and red wines were produced and marketed, but it was the Sagrantino, exclusively Passito, to be the foremost. The wines were sold all over Umbria, and eventually out of the region, to eminent customers such as the Vatican. In 2002 the founders’ great grand-sons, Francesco, Gianluca Rio and Alberto Mario, driven by the will of the Pardi family to keep on the tradition, and with the help of their parents Agostino and Alberto, restore the building in Montefalco and revive their great-grandfathers’ winery. Today the brothers Alberto Mario and Gianluca Rio, with their enthusiasm and hard work, are the new era of the Pardi wine’s legacy.

Our vineyards extend for about 11 hectares and are all located in Montefalco, along the gentle hills of Casale, Campolungo, Pietrauta and Lasignano.

Together with the renowned Sagrantino, the autochthonous vine from Montefalco, we grow also grapes with red berries, typical of the area, such as Sangiovese, Cabernet  and Merlot ; these grapes, together with Sagrantino, make up the Montefalco Rosso DOC. The Grechetto, Chardonnay and Trebbiano Spoletino vines, with white berries, make up the white wine Colle di Giove DOC.

We are very respectful of the quality, the rules and the regulations of production , as well as of our family way of thinking and therefore the whole process of cultivation is strictly made by hand, such as pruning, defoliation, the thinning of bunches and harvest.

Perfect place for a wine tour in Montefalco. We did the tour and tasting that included 8 wines plus appetizers (which were generous portions) to accompany each wine we sampled. Apps were made while we sat at large kitchen table and enjoyed the great wines. Shipped a case of wine home. Highly recommend this experience!

We stopped there because it is next to the motorhome parking area and we were very well received, we tasted various wines from this winery and made our purchases at a reasonable price.

We had such a lovely time at Cantina Fratelli Pardi. My mom and I booked a tasting on a recent Sunday and really enjoyed our visit. Alberto was a wonderful host and told us all about the wine, Umbrian culture, and things to do in the village of Montefalco. We loved all the wine, and the cost to ship was considerably lower than other places we’ve visited. Highly recommend booking a tasting and exploring the village before/after, since it’s located right outside the city walls across the street from a large parking lot.

This weekend, my boyfriend and I had the pleasure of visiting the Cantina Fratelli Pardi in Montefalco, nestled in a suggestive location where the beauty of the Montefalco landscape blends harmoniously with the winemaking tradition. While the context and structure of the cellar were wonderful in themselves, it was the presence of the winemaker Albertino that made this experience truly unique. Albertino accompanied us from the beginning with impeccable professionalism, leading us on a comprehensive journey into the world of wine. From a practical explanation of the vineyards—precisely explaining the terroir, the use of the rows, the machinery, and the microclimate of Montefalco—to a detailed analysis of the production processes in the cellar. He spoke to us about fermentation times, ageing in steel and barriques, winemaking techniques, and temperature control, all in a technical yet understandable language. Although it was my first time there, I felt completely at ease thanks to his exceptional ability to provide information. Albertino managed to convey scientific and oenological concepts without ever losing sight of the essence of the sector, masterfully balancing technical rigor with a captivating narrative. Those who enter the Pardi winery with no prior wine knowledge leave with a clearer and more informed view of the world. The final tasting was the icing on the cake: we were served four white and three red wines, while Albertino sat beside us, guiding us in the sensory analysis of each glass. He carefully explained the characteristic aromas, the winemaking process of each wine, and the ideal food pairings. What made the atmosphere even more special was the presence of Albertino's mother, with whom we chatted. His hospitality and warmth made us feel like more than just visitors, lending a touch of authenticity to our experience. Ultimately, a highly recommended visit! If you love wine and are traveling through Umbria, you shouldn't miss Cantina Pardi!
