A Legacy of Winemaking in Umbria's Heart
The Lunelli Family Legacy
The Lunelli family has a rich history in winemaking, renowned for their Ferrari Trentodoc sparkling wines. Their journey began with Bruno Lunelli and has flourished over three generations. In the 1980s, the family expanded their passion for wine by creating still wines in Trentino. Their fascination with Umbria's enchanting landscape and the esteemed Sagrantino grape led them to acquire the 30-hectare Tenuta Castelbuono estate in 2001. The family prides itself on being “artisans of time,” patiently nurturing their grapes and allowing their wines to mature gracefully in the cellar. The phases of the moon symbolize their commitment to quality and tradition.
The Castelbuono Estate
Since its purchase, Tenuta Castelbuono has undergone a complete organic transformation. The estate's vineyards have been revitalized through careful clonal selection and the planting of new vines. A striking new winery, designed by contemporary artist Arnaldo Pomodoro, has become a centerpiece of the estate. Known as the “Carapace,” this architectural marvel blurs the lines between sculpture and functionality, featuring a stunning copper-covered dome that captivates visitors.
A Commitment to Quality
Tenuta Castelbuono embodies a commitment to high-quality wine production that reflects the unique terroir of Umbria. The Lunelli family has dedicated decades to cultivating wines that are elegant and age-worthy, establishing a brand recognized for its excellence. Each bottle tells a story of the land, the family, and the artistry involved in winemaking.
