The Ivaldi Dario Winery: Ideal for Barbera Grapes

Located in Nizza Monferrato, near Castel Boglione, the Ivaldi Dario winery thrives in a hilly region perfect for cultivating Barbera grapes. This family-owned winery has been crafting wines for four generations, blending traditional methods with modern technology to create exceptional wines. Andrea Ivaldi, the youngest family member, warmly welcomes visitors for informative tours and tastings.

Vineyards in a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The vineyards of Ivaldi Dario are situated in Nizza Monferrato, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The unique terrain and favorable microclimate contribute to the production of wines with remarkable finesse. Covering 12 hectares, the vineyards benefit from ample sunlight. In addition to Barbera, the estate also cultivates Freisa, Chardonnay, Favorita, and Moscato d’Asti grapes. All grapes are handpicked, ensuring quality for their red, white, sparkling, and dessert wines.

Tradition and Culture in Every Bottle

Ivaldi wines reflect a rich tradition and cultural heritage. After harvesting, the wines are carefully crafted in concrete tanks, and, true to their grandfather's methods, aged in French oak barrels. This aging process softens the wines while preserving their natural aromas and flavors. The result is a collection of wines that beautifully represent the family's dedication to traditional winemaking and the unique terroir of Piedmont.

Wine lovers are invited to visit the winery for an enriching experience of wine tasting and estate tours.

We met this winery in Cavour and really liked the product. We went to Nizza Monferrato to visit the area and buy products. A simple but very hospitable couple. That's what we wanted!

An exceptional Albarossa The history of Albarossa, an indigenous Piedmontese grape variety Albarossa is an indigenous Piedmontese vine obtained by Prof. Giovanni Dalmasso, professor of viticulture at the faculty of agriculture of the University of Turin in 1938. It is a cross of the Nebbiolo di Dronero known as Chatus, an indigenous vine widespread at low altitudes in the Alpine area both on the Italian side of the province of Cuneo and on the French side although on a smaller surface area and the Barbera vine. At the beginning it was thought that the origin of the cross was the more common Nebbiolo, but from subsequent studies it was understood that it was instead this particular type of Alpine Nebbiolo. Interest in Albarossa is recent and dates back to the 1980s when studies continued at the Tenuta Cannona of the CNR experimental center, revealing unique qualities and potential. The Vine It is a vine that produces compact, medium-sized bunches made up of small, thick-skinned grapes with a high sweetness and balanced acidity. In the thickness of the skins there is an incredible quantity of anthocyanins, responsible for the color of the wines and for sweet and very noble tannins which give the wine extraordinary potential and expressiveness and giving the wine great longevity. More favorable terrain Albarossa has spread to the provinces of Asti, Alessandria and Cuneo, where it finds its most favorable habitat for the production of high quality wines in dry, limestone soils. It should not be underestimated that its small, thick-skinned berries represent a natural defense against the most widespread diseases such as downy mildew and botrytis, helping to produce a healthier and more ecologically sustainable wine.

With other wines you enjoy the wine, with Giovanni's barbera you feel its heart. The full and harmonious taste reaches your tongue, you feel it on the palate in a harmonious and full whole. Those who know the wine produced by Giovanni feel and recognize the difference from other wines and come back. I have been returning to his farm for over ten years, and I recommend getting to know him.
