Lekso’s Marani winery: combination of family tradition and modern production

The Lekso’s Marani winery is situated in the eastern Georgian region of Khaketi that is famous for wine production since a long time ago. They make natural, traditional wines at their winery by a combination of family tradition with modern machinery and innovative technology. The winery is between the Caucasus mountains, along the Alazani river valley. The winery was built by Lekso’s grandfather and is around 100 years old.

The vineyards are present in some of the best regions of the area and have perfect soil, microclimate, temperature, etc. for the cultivation of vineyards. Grapes are harvested with organic methods to ensure the best, quality grapes. The main varieties at their estate are Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane, Kisi, Maghranuli, Jananura, and Saperavi. The grapes are handpicked and processed at the winery to make their famous red, white, and rose wines.

The Mtsave, Saperavi, and 16 wines are very special. All the wines are fermented and aged in qvevris in accordance with the traditional Georgian methods. At Telavi Chacha Festival, Vepkhvo’s Chacha won the gold medal and is a product of the Lekso’s Marani. The Chacha was made by the owner’s father Vephkvo and had a totally unique taste, one that you may have never tasted before. Lekso’s Muscat Chacha is also ready to be imported and exposed to the international market. You can find Lekso’s wines in many countries, including the USA, Germany, Poland, Austria, etc.
