Our Story and Tradition

"Marani Milorauli" is built on a deep family tradition that dates back to 1930 and was brought back to life with a fresh modern vision in 2015. Located in the historic town of Telavi, right in the heart of Kakheti—Georgia's premier wine region—our estate seamlessly blends decades of family experience, traditional Qvevri winemaking, and contemporary approaches.

Our Bio-Vineyards and Terroir

Our journey to exceptional wine begins right in the soil. Our vineyards are located in the Akhmeta municipality, in the village of Zemo Khodasheni—a unique terroir officially recognized as the Kakhuri Mtsvane micro-zone. This area is celebrated as one of the most distinguished and ideal climates for authentic Georgian winemaking.

Our land is certified as an organic vineyard by Caucascert, meaning our grapes are cultivated in complete harmony with nature and according to the strict principles of organic farming, free from synthetic chemicals. Across our 9 hectares, we carefully nurture a unique selection of indigenous Georgian grapes alongside prominent international varieties:

Georgian Varieties:  Kakhuri Mtsvane, Kisi, Khikhvi, Rkatsiteli, Saperavi, Aleksandrouli.

International Varieties: Montepulciano, Syrah, Tempranillo.

We tend to each vine with utmost care throughout the entire year, allowing the grapes to fully express their natural character and the authentic essence of our unique terroir.

Organic Winemaking and Quality

From these pristine vineyards, we carefully craft a limited, boutique production of approximately 7,000 bottles of premium organic wine each year.

For us, wine is never just a product—it is a living extension of our family history, our land, and our heritage. Every single bottle reflects our uncompromising dedication to quality, respect for nature, and the timeless art of Georgian winemaking.

The Roots of Kakhetian Hospitality

Back in the 1990s, when family-based tourism in Kakheti was only in its infancy, our family opened its doors to welcome foreign guests into our home. Over the years, this genuine hospitality evolved into a cherished family tradition, paving the way for one of the very first family guesthouses in Telavi.

Discover an Authentic Experience

Today, "Marani Milorauli" offers guests a complete, authentic Kakhetian experience where exceptional wine, rich family history, and unforgettable hospitality come together.

Here, every guest does more than just learn about wine—they become a true part of our family story and the Kakhetian way of life.

Qvevri Winemaking: A UNESCO Heritage

At Marani Milorauli, we honor the ancient Kakhetian method of winemaking using Qvevri, large clay vessels buried underground. This traditional technique was recognized by UNESCO in 2013 as an "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity," highlighting its importance to Georgian culture and history.

Delicious and well-varied wines. The owners were very knowledgeable and passionate about winemaking. They have the classic Georgian grapes, but they also have a rose made from Montepulciano grapes, which is to die for.

lovely hosts, delicious natural wines made by hand, both traditional Georgian varieties, and some from European grapes (unique in Georgia!), and very nice starters to accompany the wine tasting.

We had such a great visit to this winery in April 2024. The wines are delicious and Tamar prepared us a wonderful spread of local cheese, bread, and spreads. The garden is absolutely beautiful and if weather permits the tasting is done in the garden. This was an especially interesting winery to visit because they have wines made from European grapes fermented in a qvevri. It was really interesting to taste those wines. A must visit if you are in the Alazani valley!

It’s a family owned small winery. Such an amazing winery! We visited them for a wine tasting, as we are big fans of their wine. My absolute favorite is 4 grapes and Mtsvane. They prepared the most delicious snacks and bites to go with the wine. Owners are extremely friendly and nice. Highly recommend visiting while in Kakheti.
