Experience Over 450 Years of Winemaking Tradition
A Rich Winemaking Heritage
Founded in 1558 by Jo Francesco Mossi, Mossi 1558 is now proudly managed by the 14th generation of the Mossi family, Cantina Mossi. Located in the picturesque hills of Piacenza, Emilia-Romagna, this winery cultivates traditional grape varieties such as Barbera and Croatina for red wines, and Ortrugo and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica for whites. Notably, Mossi 1558 is one of only three wineries globally producing the rare Malvasia Rosa. Silvia and Marco, a passionate couple, have taken the reins from Luigi Mossi, continuing the family legacy while enhancing the unique Ortrugo and Malvasia Rosa grapes through innovative research and sustainable practices.
Their wines are characterized by complexity and a distinct Mossi signature.
Tradition Meets Modern Techniques
Mossi 1558 is proud to be among the few wineries producing Malvasia Rosa. The winery is dedicated to preserving biodiversity, featuring 24 grape varieties in its experimental vineyard, some of which are exclusive to their collection. Committed to sustainability, Mossi 1558 employs biodynamic methods in vine cultivation and is an active member of various sustainable organizations.
A Unique Winery Experience
Open for wine tours and tastings, Mossi 1558 welcomes families, adult groups, and school visits. The winery also houses a farming museum showcasing agricultural and household tools that have been part of the Mossi family for generations. Guests can enjoy wine tastings paired with local delicacies, providing a true taste of the region's culinary heritage.
