A Rich Winemaking Heritage

Founded in 1558 by Jo Francesco Mossi, Mossi 1558 is now proudly managed by the 14th generation of the Mossi family, Cantina Mossi. Located in the picturesque hills of Piacenza, Emilia-Romagna, this winery cultivates traditional grape varieties such as Barbera and Croatina for red wines, and Ortrugo and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica for whites. Notably, Mossi 1558 is one of only three wineries globally producing the rare Malvasia Rosa. Silvia and Marco, a passionate couple, have taken the reins from Luigi Mossi, continuing the family legacy while enhancing the unique Ortrugo and Malvasia Rosa grapes through innovative research and sustainable practices.

Their wines are characterized by complexity and a distinct Mossi signature.

Tradition Meets Modern Techniques

Mossi 1558 is proud to be among the few wineries producing Malvasia Rosa. The winery is dedicated to preserving biodiversity, featuring 24 grape varieties in its experimental vineyard, some of which are exclusive to their collection. Committed to sustainability, Mossi 1558 employs biodynamic methods in vine cultivation and is an active member of various sustainable organizations.

A Unique Winery Experience

Open for wine tours and tastings, Mossi 1558 welcomes families, adult groups, and school visits. The winery also houses a farming museum showcasing agricultural and household tools that have been part of the Mossi family for generations. Guests can enjoy wine tastings paired with local delicacies, providing a true taste of the region's culinary heritage.

Excellent reality from Val Tidone. I particularly thank the young boy for explaining the company's production chain to us in a clear and exhaustive way.

The passion and love for this "particular" job can be felt in every corner of the winery. A wonderful welcome, unique products that have in-depth research as their structure. A place that deserves to be visited at least twice a year because it is always evolving.

It is well known that Italy is a country full of wonders but too often we end up forgetting that even close to home there are small corners of paradise. The Mossi 1558 winery is certainly one of these places! Immersed in the wonderful hills of Piacenza, it combines a long history that began in 1558 with a modern and organized harvest and processing of grapes to produce truly superior wines. For those who love the countryside and good wine, come and visit this farm where, followed by highly qualified staff, you can enrich your knowledge of the world of grape cultivation and wine production. For those who wish it is also possible to purchase wines, balsamic vinegar produced locally starting from Modena musts and aged for 45 years as well as preserves produced by Trentino agricultural companies and high quality Apulian oil.
