Founded in 1997 by the Hammond family, Oakway Estate is a family-owned winery nestled on Farley Road in Paynedale, within the renowned Geographe wine region of Western Australia. Located near Bunbury and Busselton, this picturesque estate spans 100 acres, featuring a winery, cellar door, vineyard, sustainable blue gum tree plantation, and a small herd of beef cattle. Three generations of the Hammond family have dedicated their efforts to creating exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.

Since releasing its first vintage in 1997, Oakway Estate has consistently produced premium wines that showcase the best of Western Australia.

Vineyard and Grape Varieties

Overlooking the vineyard and the Capel River, Oakway Estate benefits from light gravel and loam soils that ensure excellent drainage. The vineyard enjoys ample sun exposure, which helps mitigate frost risks. The estate primarily cultivates Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Nero D’Avola, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Vermentino, and Chardonnay. The gently rolling slopes and Mediterranean climate create ideal growing conditions, resulting in a dynamic landscape that changes with the seasons.

This dedication to quality has earned the winery accolades, including the Gourmet Traveller’s Best Small Cellar Door in Geographe in both 2014 and 2016 for its handcrafted boutique wines.
