Family-Owned Winery Present in the Ancient Royal Village of Ribatejo

Quinta da Ribeirinha – a Family-Run Winery Located the Ribatejo Region

Quinta da Ribeirinha is a family winery based in Póvoa de Santarém, a typical village of Ribatejo, land of castles, monasteries, and historic churches, ancient royal cities, and towns. As the name implies, this region is situated on the north side of the Tagus River. The winery is located on the sector of Ribatejo’s “Bairro,” land of excellent wine and olive oil. The wine industry’s interest has been transmitted for several generations, resulting in an accumulation of knowledge and an increase in the development of the oenological practices. This excitement and commitment have allowed for the combination of traditional vinification methods with new technologies maintaining using typical grape varieties and wines from the region.

The harvest is done by hand, allowing the proper selection of the grapes at Quinta da Ribeirinha Winery.

60 Hectares of Vineyards at the Winery

The family owns three properties, “Quinta da Ribeirinha,” “Terra da Vinha,” and “Vale de Lobos,” totaling nearly 95 hectares of farmed land, from which 60 hectares are occupied with vineyards. The dry Mediterranean climate, the calcareous clay soils, and the southward facing of the vineyards are essential factors in the grape development. The careful selection of the grape varieties cultivated on this terroir is a guarantee of unique wines. The harvest is done by hand, allowing the proper selection of the grapes.

Main Grapes Grown at the Winery

The main types of grapes grown are Fernão Pires, Arinto, Verdelho, Moscatel, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Viognier, Touriga Nacional, Castelão, Trincadeira, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The best grapes go into the winery to produce their red, white, rosé, sparkling, and dessert wines.
