A Story to Tell

The journey began with two lifelong friends, Alzira dos Santos and Pedro Seixo, who shared a deep passion for wine and a vision to create a lasting legacy. In 2010, they launched their dream project, focusing on meticulous production methods to offer a fresh perspective on Portuguese wines. Their first harvests took place in the renowned Douro and Alentejo regions, marking the start of their winemaking adventure.

In 2019, the family business expanded with the acquisition of Encosta do Sobral, located in the Tomar sub-region of Tejo. This area is known for its unique schist soils and stunning landscapes, encompassing 60 hectares of vineyards that thrive in a privileged geographical setting.

Encosta do Sobral Estates

Encosta do Sobral is situated in the Serra of Tomar, at an altitude of 260 meters. The rugged schist terrain necessitates mountain viticulture techniques, while the continental climate—with cold winters and hot summers—contributes to the wines' concentration and acidity, allowing for extended aging potential.

This vineyard is part of the only schist plots in the Tejo region, where the natural interaction with the cool waters of the Castelo de Bode Dam creates ideal conditions for producing vibrant and complex wines. A diverse selection of grape varieties flourishes here, and all aspects of Tejo wine production, including bottling, labeling, and storage, take place on-site.
