Rob Dolan Wines: A Hidden Gem Near Melbourne

Carefully Selected Varietals for Optimal Quality

Rob Dolan's commitment to quality begins in the vineyard. He carefully selects sites that consistently yield the best grapes, including Yarraland, Yering Park, Willowlake, and HJ Estate. The vineyards are planted with grape varieties that thrive in the region's unique climate and soil. Key varietals include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Savagnin, Arneis, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz. By focusing on the best fruit and adopting a "less is more" philosophy, Rob creates wines that are elegant, well-structured, and rich in flavor.

What a great little hide away. I didn't know this place existed until it popped up in my feed. It's well situated on the hill, and the lawn area and stoned area under the tree was perfect to deter the hot sun. There's no restaurant however, the platters looked good. the toasties were perfect with the relish on the side. Nice selection of wines and well priced to match. The staff were great, so relaxed, and well informed of what's what. Will definitely be going back again.

Lovely place to catch up with family, friends and dog friendly. A generous and delicious platter of cheese, cold meats, olives etc was enjoyed between the four of us. Staff was super friendly, lovely outdoor area to enjoy on a glorious summer day!! One star was removed as l think the variety of food is very limited with only platters and toasties available. No desserts are available to have with a cup of coffee or tea. Also very limited choice of non alcoholic drinks, no diet drinks. Overall a lovely place, just be prepared for not a great deal of food available on the menu.

A great spot for a grazing lunch and vino at this winery. The charcuterie board was well prepared with a fair amount of quality cold cuts, terrines, cheese and accompaniments. The Chardonnay was refreshing, and their Blanc de Blanc and sparkling rose were delightful paired with a substantial grazing board. As most seating is outside (except if you have booked the function space indoors) you need to rug up and wear warm clothes during the colder months as the outdoor heaters don’t suffice. However during the warmer months it’s perfect. Service generally was good, they did however bring out some items late to our table.

We have visited some of the classic wineries around Melbourne, but today we were looking for a winery close to Melbourne for a half-day experience. We were pleasantly surprised to discover Rob Dolan wines and enjoyed an exceptional morning here. Our host (Nick) immediately made us feel welcome and arranged a table facing the rolling fields. He described the history of the winery and excitedly spoke of the wines and the tasty offerings available to us. We enjoyed an impeccable platter coupled with a fresh glass of their wines. The price for this experience was very reasonable. After our little feast, we wandered the gardens and were able to capture some beautiful memories. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a lovely winery close to Melbourne, with 5 star experience.
