Agricola San Ferdinando: A Winery with a Rich Heritage

Located in the picturesque Chiana region of Tuscany, Agricola San Ferdinando spans 60 hectares of lush vineyards. The winery honors traditional winemaking practices by replanting ancient grape varieties that have been cherished for generations. Visitors can also enjoy a stay at the estate's beautiful resort, featuring two charming farmhouses where wine tastings are offered.

Modern Winemaking with Tradition

The Grifoni family began their winemaking journey in 1998, laying the foundation for a modern winery that was completed in 2009. On 10 hectares of vineyard, they cultivate a mix of indigenous and international grape varieties, including Vermentino, Ciliegiolo, and Sangiovese. Notably, Pugnitello, a premium red grape, is also grown here. The winery emphasizes manual farming techniques, such as hoeing and hand-picking, while utilizing tractors for topping.

Committed to sustainability, the winery avoids chemicals and pesticides, ensuring a natural approach to cultivation.

Currently in its second year of organic conversion, Agricola San Ferdinando has been dedicated to eco-friendly practices for years.

Grape Processing and Quality Control

Once harvested, the grapes are carefully transported to the cellar for fermentation in stainless steel tanks, equipped with temperature control for optimal results. The winery has invested in advanced technology to enhance the quality of its DOCG and IGT certified wines. For aging, wines are stored in a dedicated barrique cellar, featuring large French oak barrels that contribute to their unique character.

Excellent structure located in the Val di Chiana valley. A company that offers the best of itself with staff attentive to the smallest details that make the difference. The wines are good, I recommend the Punchitello, one of the rediscovered native grape varieties that distinguishes the company together with the pure Ciliegiolo
