With a commitment to quality, Smallwater Estate has been producing exceptional wines since the early 1990s.

A Rich History of Winemaking

Founded in the early 1990s by John Small and his late wife, Robyn, Smallwater Estate began with the vision of creating a marron farm alongside vineyards. For over a decade, John supplied grapes to other wineries, including Cape Mentelle. In 2005, he decided to produce wines under the Smallwater Estate label, launching their first vintage in 2006 with 3,000 bottles of Zinfandel, a delightful red variety.

Hand-Harvested Grapes for Quality Wines

The estate's vineyards feature a diverse range of grapes, with Zinfandel as the primary variety. Other notable grapes include Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. All grapes are hand-harvested, ensuring the highest quality for their red, white, and rosé wines, as well as exquisite dessert and fortified options. The winery combines modern technology with traditional methods, utilizing wooden barrels for aging and refinement.
