The Stephano winery- present in one of the best wine region of Austria
The Stephano winery was established in 2009, entirely built from scratch. It is present in one of the best wine regions of Austria, Burgenland. The hilly locations of the vineyards give excellent taste and quality to the wines. Inspiration is taken from many Shakespeare characters like Stephano, Gonzalo, Prospero, etc. that make the composition of their wines. The owners Stephen and Monika have a lot of experience of viticulture and work hard to make their wines unique.
Winery with sustainable and organic techniques
They make use of sustainable and organic techniques in their vineyards to protect the environment and their natural resources. It also helps to protect their vines and maintain the quality of grapes. Their vineyards are spread over 6 hectares of land and are planted behind the winery, and some older vineyards are present in the Eisenberger and Deutsch-Schuetzer. Vines are planted at the vineyards with the best location and conditions. The vines are planted on slopes, almost all of the work takes place through hands.
There is no use of chemical fertilizers on their farm, and attention is given to each wine individually.
Grapes and their processing
The main types of grapes they grow include Blaufränkisch, Merlot, Zweigelt, Grüner Veltliner, and Pinot Blanc. The best grapes go into the production of their red, white, rose, sparkling, and fortified wines. The grapes are processed gently in the cellar with fermentation through pure yeasts and no addition of animal products during winemaking. The maturation of their wines in wooden barrels gives an intense fruity flavor and aroma to the wines.
