Stephano Winery, Producing Wines in One of the Best Wine Regions of Austria
Stephano Winery was established in 2009 and built entirely from scratch. The winery is located in Burgenland, one of the best wine regions of Austria. The hilly locations of the vineyards give excellent flavor, complexity, and quality to the wines. Inspiration is taken from many Shakespeare characters such as Stephano, Gonzalo, and Prospero that create the composition of their wines. The owners Stephen and Monika, have a lot of viticulture experience and work hard to make their wines unique.
Winery with Sustainable and Organic Techniques
They use sustainable and organic techniques in their vineyards to protect the environment and their natural resources. Stephano Winery’s vineyards are spread over six hectares of land and are planted behind the winery. Some older vineyards are present in the Eisenberger and Deutsch-Schuetzer regions. The vines are planted on slopes, and almost all of the vineyard work takes place by hand.
There is no use of chemical fertilizers at Stephano Winery, and attention is given to each wine individually.
The Grapes of the Winery and Their Processing
The main types of grapes grown at the winery include Blaufränkisch, Merlot, Zweigelt, Grüner Veltliner, and Pinot Blanc. The best grapes go into producing their red, white, rosé, sparkling, and fortified wines. The grapes are processed gently in the cellar with fermentation through pure yeasts and animal products during winemaking. The maturation of their wines in wooden barrels gives intense flavors and aromas to the wines.
