A Boutique Winery in Main Ridge

Ten Minutes By Tractor is a charming boutique winery nestled in Main Ridge, the highest and coolest subregion of Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. Established in 1997, the winery emerged from the collaboration of three vineyards: Judd, McCutcheon, and Wallis. This partnership allowed the vineyards to share resources and reduce operational costs in this elevated region. The name "Ten Minutes By Tractor" reflects the proximity of the vineyards, all just a short tractor ride apart. In 1998, the three families began crafting wine with the assistance of a local contract winemaker, and by 2001, their wines gained immediate acclaim, quickly becoming some of the most highly rated of the season.

Their wines are celebrated for showcasing the unique characteristics of their quality vineyards and the distinct terroir of the region.

Unique Character of Vineyards

Each vineyard at Ten Minutes By Tractor possesses its own unique character, influenced by varying aspects, slopes, soils, and the cool ocean breezes that flow from Bass Strait, Western Port, and Port Phillip. In 2003, Martin Spedding acquired Ten Minutes by Tractor Wine Co. from the founding families. Since then, the winery has expanded to include a new cellar door, a restaurant, and four additional vineyards. The winery takes pride in cultivating exceptional grapes and producing wines that reflect their origins, ensuring that wine enthusiasts can appreciate the distinct flavors and qualities of the Mornington Peninsula.

The first dis is very sophisticated. It comes with complexity in taste and texture. All three dishes are top notch. The bread came out hot and fresh. The main dishes definitely met expectations but nothing overwhelming. Dessert is a bit on the disappointing side. Great presentation, lacking on the taste. Great service and knowledgeable on the wines

Overall, this was an amazing experience - the food was divine, and the service was great. The only thing I could possibly think of as potentially leaving room for a little improvement is to make the area a little more intimate via booths (or similar) so it feels more like it's just you and the food (and your lovely wait staff). But really, that's just nit picking. It was a wonderful experience, and the food really was out of this world. Thank you!

What an experience! 8 courses (+ snacks) of decadence and flavour. Apart from the beautiful interiors and exteriors, the staff were super knowledgeable and on the ball. It was a pricey night but we celebrated a special occasion and were aware of costs prior so it did not bother us. Can’t wait to come back to try a different seasonal menu!

We went to the cellar door at Ten minutes by Tractor which is located next to the restaurant. The staff were quick and professional and the tasting room looked beautiful with a high wooden ceiling with a glass see through roof on the top. I like their Chardonnays but we only did the estate tasting and not the premium list which has more Chardonnay for tasting. It was raining on the day we visited so we couldn't really walk around to see the place.

We marked a special anniversary at Ten Minutes by Tractor, and it was quite the experience. The dining room strikes an elegant balance between sophistication and comfort, with impeccably dressed staff. The highlights of our meal included the 10x garden beetroot, the delightful jetty loaf, and the marron. On the other hand, I could have happily skipped the escargot toast and the horseradish sorbet; they didn’t quite make the cut. A nice surprise was the petit fours that appeared unannounced, proving that sometimes unexpected guests are welcome at the table. We opted out of the wine pairing, though—starting at nearly $200 pp and going up to $600 pp, it felt like they were suggesting we should sell a kidney. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable experience that certainly lives up to its accolades. If you’re in mood to celebrate something special, this place might just be worth the splurge—if only for the chance to wear something nice and pretend you’re fancy for a night.
