Tenuta Monte Gorna is a winery located on the southeastern side of Mount Etna, in the province of Carpenel. At around 760 meters above sea level and surrounded by oak, chestnut, and broom forests, the estate benefits from an ideal microclimate for the cultivation and proper ripening of the grapes. Tenuta Monte Gorna is a family winery that is based on pure passion and love for their land.

Multiple Generations and their Contributions

The third generation of the family is currently running the winery. The first generation started planting grapes and passed down their ancient traditional methods to their children. The second generation did the restructuring of the vineyards and planted local grape varieties. The third generation, currently running the winery, is responsible for producing and selling the wines in Italy and all over the world.

The teams of grape growers and winemakers still use traditional methods and modern and innovative techniques to improve the wines’ quality.

The vineyards of Tenuta Monte Gorna are located on the slopes of Mount Etna, between the two craters of Mount Ilicie and Mount Gorna and the sea on both sides. The vineyards mainly produce Nerello Cappuccio and Nerello Mascalese grapes used in the production of their red wine. Carricante and Cataratto grapes create the production of their white wines. Organic methods are used in the cultivation, and the vineyards have massive stone walls that symbolize an ancient landscape. There is a big difference in the day and night temperatures and sandy soil that is perfect for the growth and ripening of high-quality grapes. Their wines reflect the winery’s hard work and the qualities of their region.
