Tenuta San Giaime, a Young Family-Run Winery
Tenuta San Giaime is a winery located 1000 meters above sea level, in the Madonie region of Sicily. Olive trees and vines grow here. They both have unique flavors and aromas and show the region’s characteristics. Alessio Cicco is the winery owner and established the property in 2006 with his father, Salvatore. The main aim was to use their ideas, hard work to make the best wines using natural resources. In 2012, they produced the first 1000 bottles of their Syrah wine.
The wines of the Tenuta San Giaime Winery were born in the village of Gangi, which won the ‘Most Beautiful Village in Italy’ award in 2014.
Organic Winemaking at Tenuta San Giaime
The winery uses organic methods to protect the environment and make healthier wines for customers. The winery combines its traditional values with innovative techniques to create fine wines that reflect the quality of Madonie. The winery grows international grape varieties such as Pinot Noir and Syrah along with the local grape Grillo.
The Wines Perfectly Reflect Their Terroir
Workers at Tenuta San Giaime handpick the best quality grapes and transport them to the winery in small boxes to prevent the berries from getting crushed. Fermentation takes place without any additives to create more natural wines. The maturation of red wines takes place in concrete conical tanks and then in barrels. White wines are only kept in steel containers before going into the bottle to maintain their natural freshness. The winemakers make sure that the wines have good quality and reflect their work and the terroir’s features.
