Tenute Dettori Winery, Sardinian Terroir and its Influence
Tenute Dettori is a winery located in Sennori, close to the natural amphitheater Badde Nigolosu in Sardinia. People have been making wine in this area for more than 3000 years. Due to its high location, Sennori gets strong winds coming from the northeast part of the island. You can see the stunning landscapes of the Gulf of Turritano and the Island of Corsica. The vineyard is surrounded by a lot of fruit orchards, olive trees, and other vineyards.
Tenute Dettori, Wines that Reflect Their Land
The winery is located on a hill at almost 250 meters above sea level. The soil has a yellowish-white color and is calcareous. There is a variety of wildlife here, including wild boars, hedgehogs, foxes, hawks, etc. The winery plants around 5000 vines per hectare of land with Cannonau, Pascale, Moscato, and Monica’s grapes. They also grow vegetables, fruits, and raisins. The winemakers use organic methods to make their high-quality wines and preserve their environment and region. They try to keep the bond between the locals and the land intact.
The Winemaking Process of the Tenute Dettori Winery
Workers at Tenute Dettori handpick the best grapes cutting the stems with scissors. They are taken to the winery for processing in wooden boxes. The winery was built underground to create optimum conditions and temperatures for their vinification and maturation cellars. The grapes and wine are moved by gravity flow, and fermentation takes place in cement tanks.
To improve their sustainability, Tenute Dettori Winery recently reduced the weight of the glass bottles and are working on introducing recycled materials for packaging.
