A Century-Old Vineyard in Sardinia's Heart
Cantina Giuseppe Sedilesu: A Sardinian Gem
Located in the picturesque village of Mamoiada, Cantina Giuseppe Sedilesu is nestled in the heart of Sardinia's Barbagia region. The winery spans 15 hectares, primarily dedicated to the cultivation of Cannonau grapes, a variety that thrives in this unique terroir. The newly constructed cellars are centrally located in Mamoiada, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The architecture reflects the ancient Nuragic culture, dating back to 160 BC, providing a glimpse into Sardinia's rich history.
Cannonau: The Pride of Sardinia
Cantina Giuseppe Sedilesu specializes in Cannonau, Sardinia's renowned red wine. In addition to this, the winery also cultivates a small percentage of Granazza, a white grape variety. The owners prioritize sustainability, utilizing eco-friendly materials like ytong, granite, and wood in their winemaking process. The wines undergo maturation in the cellars, resulting in high-quality red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines. Giuseppe, along with his wife Grazia and their three children, began this venture 35 years ago. Today, Antonietta, Francesco, and Salvatore continue the family tradition with the same passion and dedication.
A Family Legacy in Winemaking
The Sedilesu family is actively involved in the Consorzio di Tutela del DOC, ensuring the quality and authenticity of their wines. Over the years, they have renovated the estate, built new cellars, and introduced various wine tourism activities. Visitors can enjoy a taste of Sardinia's rich viticultural heritage while learning about the winemaking process from the family themselves.
