A Legacy of Vineyards, Tradition, and Sustainable Viticulture in Emilia Romagna

Founded in 1964, Umberto Cesari Winery is nestled in the picturesque hills of Castel San Pietro in Emilia Romagna. Our commitment to local grape varieties, such as Sangiovese, Albana, and Pignoletto, is complemented by the careful integration of international varieties. Over the years, we have witnessed our vineyards flourish alongside a growing understanding of the importance of our land. This awareness has guided us toward sustainable viticulture practices, ensuring that the grapes of tomorrow surpass those of today.

Where Tradition Meets Technology in Crafting Exceptional Wines

The heart of our winery lies in our state-of-the-art cellar, where our skilled oenologists oversee the wine production process. While fermentation is a natural process, advancements in technology allow us to monitor and enhance this phase, resulting in outstanding wines. During harvest, grapes are transported to the cellar within an hour of picking. After passing through the destemmer or optical sorter, white grapes are pressed, while red grapes are sent directly to the winemakers for fermentation.

Wine Tours Guided by Sommeliers

Our winery offers guided tours led by knowledgeable sommeliers, providing an opportunity to learn about our wines and the unique terroir of Emilia Romagna. These tours highlight our commitment to environmental stewardship and showcase the native grape varieties we cultivate. Join us for an informative tasting experience that highlights the craftsmanship behind our wines and the rich heritage of our region.

Beautiful experience, both the visit to the wine cellar, where Mrs. Cesari herself tells the processes and anecdotes of her company, and the deluxe tasting, where all the wines are accompanied by excellent matching dishes. Very competent staff are at your disposal to tell you every detail of your visit. Special mention goes to the wine Umberto 2021.

Beautiful views, wonderful staff and truly fantastic wines! My wife and I made an impromptu stop at the winery and they were able to provide us with a full tasting and even snacks to pair! Thanks for an amazing experience!

It is such a gift to be able to visit Umberto Cesari in Bologna, Italy in person, where you can feel the hands for harvest, passion and dedication over the years to create an opportunity for all to experience the varietals in this region through the eyes of the Cesari's. I would be happy with the wine tasting but it was over the top to have a tour of the onsite lab, casks, processing of wine that are sent around the world, vineyards with a finale of locally curated food paired to the award winning wines. I dont like to share my secret favorites and finds, but this seems too selfish to not share this amazing experience of the past, present and passion for Bologna wine varietals and local foods at Umberto Cesari.

We followed the Wine Experience Deluxe. A really interesting and very well structured experience. The tasting was incredible, every wine-dish combination was just right. A really great idea to spend a day differently!

I was absolutely thrilled with my visit to Cantina Cesari. Located in a lovely setting among the hills, the winery offers not only a wide variety of fine wines, but also a complete sensory experience that involves all the senses. The tasting was carried out with great care: the sommeliers were very professional, knowing how to guide us on a journey to discover the unique flavours of their wines. Each bottle tells the story of the territory and the passion that is infused in each phase of production. In particular, I was struck by LIANO, an elegant and complex wine that I will not easily forget. The structure of the winery is modern and well-kept, with welcoming spaces where you can enjoy the wines in complete tranquility. The panoramic view of the vineyards is impressive, without a doubt, visiting them in spring would be even more exciting. I recommend going there michael

Beautiful location, very well maintained and with a wonderful view. The visit to the cellar was interesting, we explored the history and projects of the cellar. We tried the tasting with 5 white wines, all good, some very special, we will definitely come back to try others.
