Villa S. Anna- Popular Winery with a Feminine Touch
Villa S. Anna is located in the Tuscany region of Italy and is popular as a winery with a feminine touch. With the advice of experts and the definitive commitment of her daughters Anna and Margherita to carry on the business, the present owner Simona has decided to bring out the potential of the products and market it directly, running the activity as a matriarchal concern. This all-women team dedicates their passion and skill to improving their wines, planting new vineyards at a high density of plants per hectare, replacing barrels and barriques at the appropriate time, and taking scrupulous care of the centuries-old underground cellars where all the wines are aged at natural temperatures.
Rich History of the Winery
The Villa S. Anna winery is part of a larger property owned for about two hundred years by the family of Simona Ruggeri Fabroni. The cellars of the winery are about 200 years old and are thus rich in history which the staff shares with the visitors at the vineyards tour at the winery.
The vineyard is situated on the hills around the town of Montepulciano and is renowned for its fine wines: Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG, Rosso di Montepulciano DOC and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG .
The grape varieties cultivated at the vineyards are Sangiovese, Merlot, Mammolo Canaiolo and Colorino. The winery produces excellent red wines from these grapes which are properly fermented and aged in the cellars and bottled for distribution.
