Virna Borgogno Winery
The winery VIRNA BORGOGNO covers an area of about 12 hectares and produces prestigious wines from its own vineyards, with historical "Crus" in the Barolo area like: Cannubi, Preda, Sarmassa, I Merli, San Giovanni, Costa della Rose.
Virna herself is the very epitome of the Italian winemaker; her wines are all about the land, the history, and the traditions of her ancestors. She is the first woman in Italy to have received her degree in Winemaking Technique (Enologica Tecnica) from the University of Turin. In addition to the wellknown Barolo, Virna produces also Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba blends and Langhe appellation wines such as Langhe Bianco "StoFuori”", Langhe Nebbiolo "IL" and Langhe Rosso "Le Sorelle", a blend of Barbera and Nebbiolo, for a total production of 65,000 bottles a year. Virna With her sister Ivana, combines tradition with feminine sensibility, education, and "know how" from growing up in a wine making family.
You will also be able to visit our ageing cellars, in a guided tour with the winemaker Virna, Ivana or Lorenzo during which we will explain our production and wine growing techniques.
