Bergkeller is a family-run winery located in the beautiful village of Niederkirchen in Rhineland-Palatinate. Their vineyards are spread across a land of twenty hectares, and they work under the principles of organic viticulture to protect their environment and produce high-quality organic wines. The region is perfect for the cultivation of vines, and the natural beauty of the place is also lovely. The winery works passionately to produce wines that show the qualities of their territory. The classic red wine and the modern white wine are the pride of the winery. The winemakers manually harvest the grapes and transport them to the winery for further processing. Second Fermentation of Sparkling Wines
The wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle, and then the sparkling wine is aged for almost one year. Bottle fermentation is the method of production for their pure sparkling wines. The winery processes fully ripe and handpicked fruits to produce their liqueurs. Some unique spirits undergo aging in oak barrels for up to ten years. They use old, homemade recipes to produce these liqueurs.
The Main Varieties and Wine Styles
The vineyards of Bergkeller include Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Auxerrois, Merlot, Dornfelder, and Sauvignon Blanc. Riesling is an integral piece of their famous wines, including Spatlese, Auslese, and Beerenauslese styles.
