Bodegas Godelia is located in Bierzo in the northwest of Spain. The region is exceptional for growing grapes, a valley surrounded by mountains across which the river Sil flows. The winery was founded in 2009 by the García Rodríguez family who wanted to realize their passion for viticulture, winemaking and their love for nature. They have assembled a team of young, diverse and highly qualified individuals who strive for perfection in every bottle that comes out of the winery.
The Bodegas Godelia vineyards are distributed across many farms in and around the winery with different altitudes and orientation. The collective area of the vineyards owned by the winery is about 40 hectares. They grow Mencía, Godello and Doña blanca varieties of grapes in their vineyards. These varieties are native to this region and not normally found in other areas. They use these grapes to produce red, white, rose, dessert and sparkling Bierzo wines. These wines are unique with different personalities and high gastronomic potential. The winery was created to produce Bierzo wines with upmost respect and authenticity to the history and culture and they are proud to have the DO Bierzo appellation attached to their wines.
If you are planning a trip to Spain and will be in the northwest, you must visit the winery. It is an amazing setting with beautiful vineyards. You will also get an opportunity try some of the best wines made using the local varieties of grapes found nowhere else in the world.
