A Historic Winery in Umbria Since 1957
Cantina Del Trasimeno, established in 1957, stands as a cornerstone of the Umbria wine region. Founded by local winemakers from the picturesque municipalities surrounding Lake Trasimeno—such as Castiglione del Lago, Panicale, and Città della Pieve—it has grown into one of the largest cooperatives in the area. Today, the winery boasts 200 members, with Massimo Sepiacci serving as president and Lorenzo Landi as the oenologist, supported by agronomist Roberto Lamorgese. Over the years, Cantina Del Trasimeno has modernized its facilities and vineyards to meet contemporary standards.
The Evolution of Cantina Del Trasimeno
Between 1984 and 1994, the winery faced challenges, leading to a significant reduction in vineyard area and production. In response, a restructuring initiative was launched, resulting in the planting of traditional grape varieties such as Trasimeno Gamay, Grechetto, Sangiovese, and Trebbiano. The winery's premium wines are marketed under the Duca della Corgna label, featuring a diverse selection including the DOC Colli del Trasimeno line. Notable offerings include Poggio la Macchia, Nuricante, and various reds like Poggio Petroso and Divina Villa Riserva. The winery produces around 70,000 bottles annually, with a focus on gaining recognition for its unique wines, including the pure Trasimeno Gamay available in both rosé and aged versions.
