The friendship that led to building d’Arapri Spumante Classico
Three friends, Girolamo D’Amico, Louis Rapini, and Ulrico Priore created the company in 1979 with common love and passion for sparkling wines. The brand “d’Araprì”, the most appreciated and renowned production of sparkling wines, is given by the first letters of the three surnames read in succession. The entire estate is spread in three areas; Capitanana, San Severo, and Bombino Bianco.
The Land and The Vines
Dry and generous climate with soil favored by its composition and exposure, Capitanata di Puglia is the land of the Sparkling wines of Araprì. Protected by the Majella mountains and the Gargano Promontory, vines get a good wind that does not cause the development of mold and scarce rainfall. On these soils, the grapes ripen slowly, without sudden changes, without reductions in the degree of acidity, and without dispersion of the aromatic components. They produce spectacular Bombino Bianco, Pinot Nero, Montepulciano, and Nero di Troia with a special combination of soil, sun, and temperature management. d’Arapri Spumante Classico ensures unblemished, perfectly ripe fruit ready for the further winemaking process with all the work done in the vineyard by hand. The winery offers an excellent choice of handcrafted wines.
Cellar under the historical building
The entire business has two structures, one is an open farm setting and the other is an ancient cellar. Located in the historical center of the city, the cellar is spread across 1000 square meters in a basement which is under historic buildings that date back to 1600. It is close to the church of San Nicola, one of the oldest in the city, and it is in this space that wide-ranging events will be held, such as music reviews, art exhibitions, cultural conferences, welcoming wine tourists, with the main aim of offer proposals and stimuli in a cultural context as broad and free as possible.
