The Friendship Behind D'Arapri Spumante Classico

In 1979, three friends—Girolamo D’Amico, Louis Rapini, and Ulrico Priore—came together to share their passion for sparkling wines, founding D'Arapri. The name "d’Araprì" is a blend of the first letters of their surnames, symbolizing their unity. Today, the winery is celebrated for its exquisite sparkling wines, crafted from grapes grown in three distinct areas: Capitanata, San Severo, and Bombino Bianco.

The Land and Vines of Puglia

Capitanata, located in the Puglia region, boasts a dry and generous climate ideal for viticulture. Surrounded by the Majella mountains and the Gargano Promontory, the area benefits from gentle winds that prevent mold and ensure optimal grape ripening. The unique soil composition allows for the cultivation of exceptional varieties such as Bombino Bianco, Pinot Nero, Montepulciano, and Nero di Troia. Hand-harvested grapes are transformed into remarkable wines, showcasing the perfect balance of sun, soil, and temperature.

A Historic Cellar Experience

D'Arapri operates from two distinct structures: a modern open farm and a historic cellar. The cellar, located in the heart of the city, spans 1,000 square meters beneath buildings dating back to the 1600s, near the ancient church of San Nicola. This unique space hosts a variety of events, including music performances, art exhibitions, and cultural conferences, welcoming wine enthusiasts and fostering a vibrant cultural atmosphere.

A discovery in the historic center of San Severo. When we arrived we couldn't find the cellar because it extends into the "underground" of a noble palace. Many thanks to Daniele for accompanying us on the tour and allowing us to enjoy a piece of history alongside the delicious vintage of Bombino Bianco.

Here you can not only buy great drinks - sparkling wines, but in the cellars there is also a concert hall and the guide will tell you about the history of this place and the production of sparkling wines. A beautiful, interesting, unique place. Perfect wine. It is worth stopping here for a moment.

A visit to the Arapri cellars is a must for wine lovers. Anna guides guests step by step through the Champenoise method, telling anecdotes about the history of the cellar. The visit lasts about 90 minutes and ends with a tasting of some of the products from the cellar, which can also be purchased on site. Insignificant price for the experience offered.
