The history of Domaine de La Dourbie traces back to 1781. Domaine de La Dourbie gets its name from the river “La Dourbie”, a small river running through the vineyard, going then to the Hérault river.
Winemaking at Domaine de La Dourbie
Since 2009, the winery has been a fully organic farm. The vineyard covers an area of 32 hectares, 20 hectares surrounding the estate and 12 hectares located in an isolated valley. It is at 200m above the sea level and surrounded by garrigue, which creates an important and unique microclimate. Grapes are hand-harvested and the winemakers use traditional methods for vinification. The combination of manual harvesting, organic cultivation, and traditional methods produces authentic and unique wines. The gardens across fro the old country home at Domaine de La Dourbie are also ranked as “Remarkable Gardens” within France.
