How It Came to Be

The Mascareil estate is nestled near one of France's most picturesque villages, offering breathtaking 360° views of Roussillon and the Mediterranean Sea. Here, you can connect with the winemaker and experience the unique flavors of Domaine du Mascareil's wines. Each bottle is crafted with respect for the land and a deep passion for winemaking, adhering to organic and biodynamic farming practices that enhance the character of the wines.

Winemaking at its Very Best

At Domaine du Mascareil, the focus is on the quality of the fruit. Grapes are hand-harvested at their peak ripeness to ensure optimal flavor. White and rosé wines are pressed and fermented at low temperatures, while red wines undergo partial destemming. This gentle vinification process extracts essential flavors while minimizing the use of additives like sulfur. The winery embraces traditional methods, including fermentations with indigenous yeasts and aging in oak barrels, which preserves the wine's natural fruitiness.

A Vision for Sustainability

Committed to environmental stewardship, Domaine du Mascareil employs certified organic and biodynamic farming techniques. The goal is to cultivate a living soil that supports natural ecosystems. Every practice, from vineyard management to cellar operations, is designed to limit external inputs and promote ecological balance. The winery emphasizes the joy of tasting and aims to provide an alternative to conventional winemaking practices.

Not to be missed! I met David on the estate, very welcoming with great biodynamic viticultural practices, he was able to explain and show me his environment. The entire area is energy self-sufficient with solar panels. In a few words one of his wines: A bomb of fruit, raspberries and roundness with a beautiful structure and length. Both crunchy and with character, great work.

After meeting David at a wine fair, we went to see him at his home at the estate. He is a passionate person who receives you with particular attention, who shows you around the vines and explains to you the place where he lives in total autonomy, he locates the region, the different plots and grape varieties after returning to the cellar with tasting and always the passion that comes out, a very, very good time, go ahead, a passionate person who makes quality wines Thank you David for this moment and see you soon in the Loiret or elsewhere!!

I tasted their wine “Les chimères, 2018” in a restaurant on the island of Oléron. A real pleasure! Very disappointed to see that the estate is so far away, but I will go there to discover their production as soon as possible.
