Experience the Unique Anjou Wines of Domaine de la Gauterie
Atlantic Climate for the Vines of Domaine de la Gauterie
Domaine de la Gauterie has a rich history that began in 1990 when Etienne Jadeau acquired the vineyard and established the winery. Nestled just a few kilometers from the banks of the Loire River, this winery is situated between the Layon and Aubance rivers. The estate spans 21 hectares, benefiting from the mild Atlantic climate that characterizes the northern limit of viticulture in France.
Diverse Soils and Grape Varieties at Domaine de la Gauterie
The region boasts a variety of soil types, including limestone in the Tuffeau appellation and shale, clay, gravel, and sand in the Anjou appellation. This diversity allows for a wide range of grape varieties, such as Chenin Blanc, Groslot, Pineau, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gamay. With these options, winemakers can craft an array of wines, from crisp whites and rosés to light and full-bodied reds, as well as sparkling wines. A standout offering from Domaine de la Gauterie is the red Anjou 2013, which undergoes a 10-day maceration process and is aged in vats for 10 months.
