Domaine Pierre & Bertrand Couly operates around twenty hectares in the Chinon appellation. The family comes from a long line of winegrowers dating back to the 15th century through the maternal branch of Bertrand (Farou). Pierre & Bertrand Couly has chosen to turn to sustainable viticulture. The estate has received the HVE label (High Environmental Value) for its cultural choices, thus allowing the preservation of biodiversity. Domaine Pierre & Bertrand Couly endeavor to present to you the variety of the terroirs of the appellation through the different vintages it produces each year.
The philosophy of Pierre & Bertrand Couly can be summarised as respect and creating the purest expression of the terroir. In the vineyards, the greatest attention is paid to the smallest details. Pruning allows the yields to be regulated and during the spring, frost on the vines is combatted manually with wax candles. During the harvest, the best harvesting methods are selected based on the optimal day and time for each plot. The cellar is considered an extension of the work done in the vineyards. Each plot is separately vinified and the wines are fermented and aged in stainless steel vats. No sulfites are used thanks to the native yeasts that exist in the grapes. The Pierre & Bertrand Couly wines are left to age in the bottle, producing a smooth wine that is a pleasure to drink. An excellent tour of the vineyards and winery, followed by a very pleasant tasting (food and wine). Special mention goes to Louis, who, at the age of 20, was passionate about wine and this winery and knew how to make our visit meaningful!

★★★★☆ A very beautiful winery with friendly and knowledgeable staff. We received a warm welcome and had the opportunity to taste several wines. The advice was excellent – they took the time to explain the different grape varieties and vintages. The quality of the wines is outstanding, although the prices per bottle are on the higher side. Nevertheless, a worthwhile visit for wine lovers!

5 of us came today to try the escape game and taste the wines of the winery. The escape game is really very interesting and suitable for all levels. We had a great time with our friends and their 12 year old son, a really fun and entertaining activity. Afterwards we attended a tasting offered by their wine seller who explained to us the history of the winery and the wines they offer. This young man has a real passion for his job and for the company he works for. It was really interesting even for those who didn't drink alcohol. This young man is a gem for this company. We learned a lot and enjoyed this moment. A great idea to offer such activities.

I bought a Groupon voucher, the chosen date had to be changed and the customer service of Pierre and Bertrand Couly was very attentive to find a solution. No doubt that the service on site will be up to par when we take care of these customers like that. Thanks to Véronique for our discussions.
