In 1964, Pierre Mari and his son Laurent left their life in Algiers, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and a strong determination to succeed. They settled in the hamlet of La Prade, where they established Domaine La Prade Mari, a vineyard nestled among olive trees on the picturesque hillsides near Aigne. The landscape features rocky ridges adorned with scrubland, Aleppo pines, and fragrant rosemary, creating a unique environment for viticulture. Today, Pierre's grandson, Eric, continues this family legacy, nurturing the land and honoring the traditions of his ancestors.
At Domaine La Prade Mari, respect for the land is paramount. Eric manages the estate using organic farming methods, enhanced by a unique approach known as Naturo-Culture©. This technique incorporates principles of Naturopathy, utilizing medicinal plants and essential oils to promote vineyard health. The 29-hectare vineyard thrives on silty-clayey soil, sheltered from harsh winds on the southern slopes of eroded "mourels." Here, grape varieties such as Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Grenache, Viognier, and Roussanne flourish in an ideal microclimate, producing wines that reflect the essence of the Mediterranean terroir.

During a short break in the Minervois, we stopped off at the cellar of the Prade Mari estate. We have been customers for around fifteen years. We come back every 3 to 4 years. The welcome is always very friendly, the winemaker loves his land, his vines and his wines, which he works excellently. Access to the winery is not so easy, the GPS takes you along narrow paths through the middle of the vineyards. The detour is worth it. All the wines are excellent and reasonably priced. My favorite is the Gourmandise des Bois, a very nice combination of power and fruitiness. Thank you, Mr. Mari, for your welcome.

Our favorite wine… It has been our wish to visit this wine cellar for a long time - we were not disappointed and it was definitely not the last visit there... The wines have a special taste. In every sip you can tell that the young winemaker puts his heart and soul into it.

One of the best wines of Minervois!!! The estate has been organically grown for a very long time and is cut off from the outside world because it is surrounded by pine forests. Organic farming pushed to the limit....no external inputs, the vines are cared for with plant preparations from the estate, the fertilizer is planting plants between the rows of vines... At certain times, you will even find rows of flowers in the middle of the rows to improve the floral side of the whites. And a small but not insignificant detail, Mr Mari considers that a well-managed organic culture is as profitable as a conventional culture, the price of the bottle is therefore equivalent to a conventional bottle. The estate also has gîtes to spend a few days in the great outdoors.
