Domaine Skouras, Winery Located in the Outstanding Appellation of Nemea
Domaine Skouras resides in the outstanding appellation of Nemea, in northeastern Peloponnese and began as a small quality winery. The vineyards, surrounded by excellent soils, are located in Argolida, near the beautiful provinces of Corinthia and Arcadia, in Malandreni. Today, George collaborates with other grape growers of Nimea PDO to produce the region’s highest quality wines.
The history of Domaine Skouras Winery dates back to 1980.
Greek Architecture on Display at the Winery
Argos boasts a winemaking tradition of over 3000 years, and the history of Domaine Skouras dates back to 1980. George started gaining experience in wine production in France, Italy, and Greece. Finally, in 1986, he established Domaine Skouras in one of Europe’s oldest towns on the outskirts of Argos. Over the years, the winery changed its locations several times, until settling in Malandreni in 2004. Today, built with Greek architecture and enhanced infrastructure, the winery produces delicious wines by combining conventional and modern viticulture methods.
Grape Varieties, both Local and International
Agiorgitiko being the flagship grape variety, the winery cultivates an extensive range of grapes, including Moscofilero, Merlot, Viognier, and Chardonnay. In some Argolida regions, Domaine Skouras grows high-quality Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. They handpick their grapes and move only the best bunches to the cellar for further processing.
In the cellar, George introduced state-of-the-art technology and modern presses with a crushing capacity of 800 tonnes. The grape reception hall consists of 80 temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. It also comprises uncountable wooden barrels to store delectable red, white, and rosé wines, made under the Nemea, Mantinia, Argolida, and Corinth labels.
