Domaine Skouras: A Gem in Nemea's Appellation

Domaine Skouras is nestled in the renowned Nemea appellation in northeastern Peloponnese, Greece. This winery began as a small venture focused on quality and has grown into a respected name in the wine industry. The vineyards thrive in fertile soils across Nemea, Mantinia, Argolida, and Korinth, producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.

Founded in 1986, Domaine Skouras has a rich history in winemaking.

Architectural Beauty Meets Winemaking Tradition

With a winemaking heritage spanning over 3000 years, Argos is a fitting location for Domaine Skouras. George Skouras, the founder, honed his skills in France, Italy, and Greece before establishing the winery in 1986 on the outskirts of Argos. The boutique winery in Nemea was built next to the vineyards of Megas Oenos, the first wine produced by Mr. Skouras. In 2004, a new winery was constructed in Malandreni, showcasing Greek architectural style and modern infrastructure, where traditional and contemporary viticulture methods come together to create exceptional wines.

Diverse Grape Varieties for Unique Flavors

At Domaine Skouras, Agiorgitiko is the flagship grape variety, but the winery also cultivates a diverse selection of both local and international grapes. These include Moscofilero, Merlot, Viognier, and Chardonnay. In certain regions of Argolida, high-quality Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc are also grown. The winery emphasizes quality by handpicking grapes, ensuring that only the finest bunches are selected for winemaking.

I visited this special winery on a wine tourism day. Very nice place, the tour very interesting, all the people friendly and the tasting one of the best I have ever seen, with a great selection of wines, each one tastier than the last! On the plus side, which enhanced the experience, was the treat and plenty of aged Gruyère! Well done!

Ktima Skouras is an excellent destination not only for wine lovers. We did the tour and the tasting and the experience was really pleasant. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and willing to show us around and explain the processes of winemaking. Although we knew the winery's wines, the tasting gave us the opportunity to enjoy them in a new way and appreciate their special notes. The estate's boutique was particularly well-kept and filled with a selection of fine vintages, giving us plenty of opportunities to buy something special. The space was tastefully decorated and the atmosphere gave a pleasant and friendly feeling. Combining the quality of the wine with a well-kept and welcoming space, Ktima Skouras is a livable experience for wine lovers.

The tasting room was beautiful, with a perfect blend of modern elegance and rustic charm, creating the ideal setting to enjoy their exquisite wines. The pairing suggestions and insights provided by the staff enhanced the experience, making it both enjoyable and memorable. Skouras Winery is a true gem, and I highly recommend it to wine enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. A large and well-known winery in Greece and particularly in the region. Beautifully designed with impressive views. The tour was very comprehensive and professional. The staff is knowledgeable and capable of answering all the questions asked. I did a premium tasting, which was very interesting. It included 2 white wines, a rosé, and two reds. I expected to taste the flagship wine, Megas Oenos, as part of the premium tasting, but that was not the case.
