Monemvasia Winery, G.Tsibidis & Co, was founded in 1997, in Monemvasia of Laconia by G.Tsibidis. This initiative was part of a more extensive business plan with a clear objective, the revival of the Malvasia wine in its birthplace. The winery covers several activities, from historical research to vine search, vine growing, winemaking, bottling, distribution, promotion, and trading.

The Modern Winery Facility

Building on this unique tradition, Monemvasia Winery created a modern winery processing grapes from the area of Monemvasia. They employ knowledge and respect for the history of its region to produce their quality bottled wines. The vine and wine are inextricably tied to the people of Monemvasia’s cultural, social, and economic life from ancient times until today, and they are interwoven with all the social events and its traditions.

The Main Grapes the Vineyards

Their vineyards spread across 300 hectares of land and are planted with local varieties. The main types of grapes grown at Monemvasia Winery are Kydonitsa, Monemvasia, Assyrtiko, Asproudi, Agiorgitiko, Mavroudi, and Limniona. The best grapes are used to produce their distinct red, white, rosé, and dessert wines. They were regarded by Eommex as the best winery in Peloponnese and have won many international awards.
